the olympiad called it quits tonight. ive been watching a lot of the olympics this year, probably because it was held in canada. i even pretended to like hockey enough to cheer for the canada team. watched the closing ceremonies tonight, which were pretty cool, ending with a performance by canadian legend neil young. well done, everyone! great job! great show of canada’s character and culture.
until…
chad kroeger, a.k.a lead singer of canadian rock band nickelback, a.k.a the son of “thor, god of thunder”, showed up! nickelback kicked off this concert showcase of canadian talent, featuring:
- avril lavigne
- simple plan
- hedley
recognize those names? if you watch mtv, you should. particularly the block of videos voted on by middle school students. yup, wrapping up the most prestigious event in sports was the least prestigious group of canadian musicians. by the end, i was actually hoping celine dion would just show up, play “my heart will go on”, and reassure the world that we have more of a culture than “hey hey you you i don’t like your girlfriend”.
oh well.
its been a looong day for yours truly so i will cut this blog short with a omegle chat, and the promise of a blog post ive been saving for a while this friday. rest assured, it will be a lolmageddon.
